Tour Itinerary
Aphrodisias Ancient City
Aphrodisias is one of the most impressive ancient cities of western Anatolia, located near the modern village of Geyre, about 230 km southeast of Izmir. The city was named after Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, whose unique cult statue was worshipped here.
During its peak, Aphrodisias became a major cultural and artistic center of the ancient world, famous for its sculptors and marble workshops. Today, visitors can explore remarkably well-preserved structures such as the grand Stadium, the Temple of Aphrodite, the Tetrapylon, the Odeon, the Theater, the Sebasteion, and the Agora. The Aphrodisias Museum also displays an extraordinary collection of sculptures and artifacts uncovered at the site.
The ancient city of Aphrodisias was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017 for its outstanding cultural value and remarkable preservation.
After the visit to Aphrodisias, we will stop for lunch.
